When I first wrote the original Sev Files: Resurrection story for the web, it was a haphazard effort. I made it up from week to week, with little research and little effort in drawing it. But the reaction still astounded me. Athiests emailed me, some vilifying me for posting Christian propaganda, others thanking me for sticking it to the church. Christians emailed me, some thanking me for presenting the truth about Christ's resurrection, others denouncing my blasphemy. The capacity to interpret the cartoon in so many ways inspired me and informed the direction of the cartoon - that people interpret the world according to their own preconceived ideas. I decided the story deserved to be done properly so I went back to the drawing board. I researched the story heavily, learning about theology, Jewish history, the early church and the visual look of the world back then. I wrote and rewrote the script, packing as much content and humour as possible into each speech bubble. And what the heck, I even tried to draw it properly! The goal was to find a publisher and while that hasn't yet eventuated (I still hold out a slim hope), having the cartoon available to subscribers has at least enabled it to see the light of day for the first time. Sevnote - this is an ongoing story available only to paid subscribers (click here for more info).
