The theory goes that you can connect a person to any other person in the world by up to only 6 degrees of separation. This is overkill in the Star Wars universe where apparently there is only 1 or 2 degrees of separation. Through the prequels, we learn just about everyone in the later movies is connected to everyone else in some way be it blood relations, past experience or friend of a friend. Good thing there weren't any more prequels - perhaps Han Solo would've been revealed to be a long lost relative, making the Han-Luke-Leia love triangle even creepier!
