This Da Vinci Code spoof is my response after reading the book recently. The biggest mystery with the book to me is why everyone takes it so seriously. After reading it, I did a little research and learned that the whole Priory of Sion secret organisation thing (including Leonardo da Vinci being a member) was all a big hoax perpetrated by a French conman in the 50's. Rereading the book with that in mind, all the theories in the book are revealed for what they are - esoteric mumbo jumbo and squinting at old paintings. It's like taking the practice of finding shapes in clouds or grilled sandwiches and dressing it up with an intellectual veneer. So I'd recommend the book as a good read (I devoured it in a single day) but take all the historical 'facts' with a big grain of salt. This cartoon was archived on 2006-05-15.
