Research for me involves a bit of bedtime light reading (usually some easy going popular science like Carl Sagan). In this case, I was lucky enough to bump into a children's book about black holes, where I learnt such fascinating facts as matter entering a black hole results in huge energy explosions (one of the ways they can find a black hole). Of course, I made up the bit about the trauma waves but they sound nice and technobabbley :-) This cartoon was archived on 2003-05-08.
