Explaining death

When Gaby's fish died earlier this year, she cried for hours, asking me 'why, daddy? why?' If anyone could come up with a good answer to this question, I'm all ears :-) The winning punchline was submitted by Batman. There were 10 finalist punchlines chosen for this cartoon.
