Lance has his say on bringing a baby into The Pits. For those wondering, this cartoon wasn't inspired by any real life incidents. By the time Wendy had Gaby, we'd been married half a dozen years and had well escaped the Pits household (no rational person would have a baby in that hell hole). My original intention with this storyline was to have Lance and Wayne congratulating Herman in a smug, male kind of way but after the previous Pits cartoon, Lance's indignant reaction just naturally flowed. My approach with this story is not to plan too far ahead - I like the idea of being surprised by where it goes (I haven't even decided whether they'll have a boy or a girl yet). The winning punchline was submitted by allan. There were 21 finalist punchlines chosen for this cartoon.
