Back early in the primaries, I was chatting with a friend about our preferences for the Republican nominee. I stated a preference for John McCain - I liked that he opposed Bush's tax-cuts for the rich and was against Bush's pro-torture policy. Unlike most Republicans, he actually thinks humans are causing global warming (a topic close to my heart). I didn't like his zeal to invade Iraq ("Next up, Baghdad!") but hey, he was the best of a bad bunch.

Now all my reasons to like McCain have evaporated. He not only agrees with Bush's tax-cuts for the rich, he wants to increase them. He flip-flopped on torture. He chose a global warming skeptic as his VP. And for all his much vaunted honor, he's running a smear campaign against Obama that even Karl Rove flinches at. This cartoon was archived on 2008-10-13.
